The positive impact of the migration of African Americans from the South is that they are now free to become anything they wish. They are free to become doctors, teachers and more. My painting is of a little girl who had a dream. I put a crown on her to show women’s empowerment and how the migration helped her reach her dream. I did not give her a face in order to show that that little girl could have been any little black girl out in the world. I colored the background blood red. I did this to show the blood of her ancestors in slavery that died to get her to where she is now. It is her showing that all their hard work wasn’t for nothing and it paid off.
